The Gophers trailed 27-20 with 5:39 remaining in the first half, but a 15-0 run by Purdue over a four-minute span put the Boilers up 42-20. Minnesota scored the final seven points of the half to go to the locker room down 42-27. The Gophers got within 11 points early in the second half, but Purdue had five players in double figures, led by national player of the year candidate Zach Edey's career-high totals of 31 points and 22 rebounds.
Battle made 8-of-17 field goals, including 5-of-10 from behind the three-point arc for his 12th 20-points game with the Gophers. Battle has reached double-figures in three of four games this season.
