• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team is back at Williams Arena Wednesday night when it hosts the No. 13 Wisconsin Badgers. Wednesday's game time is 8 p.m., and televised on Big Ten Network. Minnesota is in the midst of a three-game homestand as it then closes out the regular home season hosting Indiana on Sunday.
• Wednesday's game marks the second meeting this season against the Badgers and the first home contest against Wisconsin since 2020. Minnesota has played three-straight road games in Madison, Wis., most recently a 66-60 loss to the Badgers on Jan. 30. Payton Willis led the Gophers with 17 points, while Jamison Battle had 14 points, 10 rebounds. Eylijah Stephens added 11 points, while Eric Curry played in his first game after a three-game hiatus due to an ankle injury and recorded eight points and six rebounds.
• The Gophers' last win over Wisconsin was the last time these two teams met in Minneapolis on Feb. 5, 2020. Minnesota topped the Badgers, 70-52, as Payton Willis scored a then-career-high 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. Daniel Oturu had 17 points and 14 rebounds.
• Minnesota is coming off a 77-60 win over Northwestern Saturday afternoon. The Gophers were led by Luke Loewe, who had a season-best 24 points and tied a career-high six threes. Jamison Battle recorded his fourth double-double of the season when he had 21 points and a career-high 14 rebounds and seven assists. As a team, Minnesota had four in double-digit scoring (along with Eylijah Stephens' 15 points and Sean Sutherlin's 11). The Gophers shot 55.8 percent and hit 11 threes, marking their best shooting game of their Big Ten season. Minnesota was also without senior point guard Payton Willis, who missed the game due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Eric Curry, who started, was also listed as a game time decision.
• Jamison Battle reached his 1,000th collegiate point with his first made field goal of the Penn State game (2/17). Battle earned over 1,000 career points spanning over two and a half collegiate seasons when he scored 636 points at George Washington before transferring to Minnesota. He currently has 399 with the Gophers, totaling 1,035 collegiate points. Luke Loewe is sitting at 992 career points. The fifth-year senior held 769 career points with William & Mary and now has 233 as a Golden Gopher.

• No. 13 Wisconsin enters the Minnesota game with a 21-5 overall record and 12-4 in Big Ten play. The Badgers have won two straight, including a 77-63 win over Michigan Sunday. Their four conference losses were at Ohio State, home vs. Michigan State, at Illinois and home vs. Rutgers.
• The Badgers are led by Johnny Davis who ranks third in the league in points per game (20.9) and 10th nationally. He also leads the team in rebounds per game (8.3) and assists (56). Brad Davison averages 14.5 points, while Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl average 11.2 and 9.2, respectively. Due to a one-game suspension during the end of the Michigan/Wisconsin game, Jahcobi Neath will sit out the Minnesota game.
• As a team, Wisconsin averages 71.2 points per game, but allow just 66.3 opponent points. The Badgers are shooting 42.6 from the field and average 35.1 rebounds per game.
HONORING THE 1982 CHAMPIONS
• Gopher men's basketball will recognize the 1982 Big Ten Championship team in honor of the 40th anniversary of their victory. The group will be honored during the under-4 media timeout of the first half.
• Led by some of the greatest players to don the Maroon and Gold, Jim Dutcher's team spent the majority of the season ranked in the top 10 in the nation en route to a Big Ten Championship. Minnesota earned the Big Ten title outright with an 87-75 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes as the Gophers finished the year with a 14-4 league record.
• Minnesota was led by a trio of All-Big Ten performers in Randy Breuer (16.6 ppg), Trent Tucker (14.4 ppg) and Darryl Mitchell (13.4 ppg). On the season, Minnesota went 23-6 and made a trip to the NCAA tournament, it's first in 10 years.
