STARTING FIVE
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team hosts its regular home season finale Sunday at 5 p.m., when the Indiana Hoosiers come to town. Minnesota enters the last home game with an 8-6 record when playing in Williams Arena confines, including three of its four conference wins at the Barn.
• The Golden Gophers have not played Indiana at home since Feb. 19, 2020 when they fell to the Hoosiers, 68-56. Indiana has won the past four-straight with the Gophers' last win coming in 2019, also at Williams Arena in an 84-63 win on Feb. 16, 2019. Jordan Murphy paved the way for the Gophers in that game with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Amir Coffey added 18 points.
• Sunday's game marks the second time the Gophers and Hoosiers  have faced each other this year. The first came on Jan. 9 when the Hoosiers won at home, 73-60. Five Indiana players reached double-figures in that game and used a 17-4 run to win the game.  Jamison Battle had 19 points, followed by Payton Willis with 18 and Eylijah Stephens with 12.
• Sunday also marks senior day for eight Gopher seniors: Eric Curry, Charlie Daniels, Joey Kern, Luke Loewe, Danny Ogele, Eylijah Stephens, Sean Sutherlin and Payton Willis. Ben Johnson's first senior class will be honored following the game. It's also Fan Appreciation Day. Anyone with a ticket to Sunday's game can partake in Fan Fest inside Maturi Pavilion starting at 3 p.m. for a Golden Gophers Fan Shop sale, fun youth activities, inflatables and photos with the Paul Bunyan Axe trophy. The Barnyard student section will also have activities, including a 'golden ticket' pom pom and raffle drawings.
Luke Loewe is sitting at 998 career points. The fifth-year senior held 769 career points with William & Mary and now has 229 as a Golden Gopher. Should he reach this goal, he'd be the third Gopher this season to accomplish the feat. Jamison Battle reached his 1,000th collegiate point with his first made field goal of the Penn State game (2/17). Battle earned over 1,000 career points spanning over two and a half collegiate seasons when he scored 636 points at George Washington before transferring to Minnesota. He currently has 416 with the Gophers, totaling 1,052 collegiate points. Payton Willis reached 1,000 career points against Green Bay earlier this year. Eylijah Stephens leads all Gophers in career scoring with 1,283 points heading into Sunday's game. He accomplished 1,000 college points at Lafayette.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
• Indiana enters the Minnesota game with a 17-10 overall record and 8-9 in Big Ten action. The Hoosiers are playing their third game this week after an overtime loss at Ohio State (2/21) and a win at home over Maryland (2/24).
• Indiana is led by Trayce Jackson-Davis, who averages 17.6 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game and a team-high 67 blocks. Those numbers rank sixth in the league in scoring, fifth in rebounding and first in blocked shots. Race Thompson ranks second on the team averaging 12.0 ppg, while Xavier Johnson follows at 11.0.
• As a team, Indiana averages 71.4 ppg, 36.9 rebounds per game and shooting 45.7 from the field. They are allowing 64.8 ppg, 33.7 rbg as their opponents are shooting 38.4.

UP NEXT
• Minnesota is on the road March 2 when it travels to Maryland at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on BTN while Mike Grimm and Spencer Tollackson provide the radio call on KFAN 100.3 FM.
