Minnesota Looks to Continue Home Success Against North Dakota and Northern Iowa

Friday doubleheader welcomes the Fighting Hawks and Panthers to Minneapolis
The University of Minnesota tennis team seeks to continue their success at Baseline Tennis Center, when it welcomes North Dakota and Northern Iowa to Minneapolis. The Gophers host the Fighting Hawks at 2:30 p.m. followed by the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. North Dakota has started the season 1-4, while Northern Iowa comes to town with an 0-2 record. Minnesota sits atop the B1G 10 with seven wins.
The Gophers have jumped out to a 7-0 start to the season, built upon their four consecutive home wins at Baseline Tennis Center. With two matches on Friday, they have the opportunity to earn nine consecutive victories to open the season. This is an achievement last done by the Gophers in 1997.

Minnesota is coming off of 7-0 victories against St. Thomas and South Dakota. Both wins came as a part of their Saturday doubleheader, as they look to repeat such results on Friday. The Gophers continued early season doubles success, as they took the point against both opponents. They carried momentum, as they posted wins in each position of both matches. This marks their best start in 25 years, as Minnesota will attempt to remain unbeaten on Friday.

North Dakota most recently played in Minnesota in September, as they participated in the Gopher Invitational. The Gophers went 6-0 in singles against North Dakota, and 2-1 in doubles matchups.
