100 Years of Minnesota Men’s Golf: Team Championships

Throughout the 100 seasons of the University of Minnesota men's golf program, the Gophers have claimed numerous championship titles as a team at the conference, regional and national level.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
2002 NCAA Champions
The University of Minnesota men's golf team won its first-ever NCAA Championship after firing a 6-under par 278 in the final round to defeat second-place Georgia Tech by four shots at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The Golden Gophers were in fourth place after three rounds, but shot the best round of any team for the second consecutive day to surge to the title. Minnesota ended the tournament as the only team below par with a final score of 1,134 (-2).
REGIONAL CHAMPIONS
1999 - Columbus, Ohio - OSU Golf Club - 865 Team Score
The University of Minnesota men's golf team won its first-ever NCAA Central Regional men's golf championship in 1999 at the 21-team event played at the 7,100-yard, par-72 Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The Golden Gophers stroked a final round one-over par score of 289 to top second-place Northwestern by one shot. The top 10 finishers in the 54-hole tournament advanced to the 1999 NCAA Championships held June 2-5 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.
