Notable
Minnesota's beam team continued to bounce back in a big way as it posted a season-best 49.475. This comes on the heels of a 49.425 against Iowa the week before. More importantly it was another strong performance for a unit that scored a 48.650 in the Big Five Meet two weeks ago and a 48.050 in a tri-meet at Maryland three weeks ago after starting the season with a 49.025 or higher in the first four meets. Friday's 49.475 was the tenth best score in school history on the beam and the best mark for the Gophers since it posted a 49.500 at the NCAA Regional Final in 2021.
Quotable
"It was so much fun," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "This is an environment that we were really looking forward to competing in. Utah is a perennial powerhouse and the energy and environment was fantastic. I am just so proud of how the team rose to the occasion. It was our second-highest score in school history and I could not be more proud of them and the way they performed tonight.
"We do feel like everything is starting to click. The last two weeks, our beam team has been amazing and exactly as we had hoped they would be. We had some new people come in on vault and step up, so we are just really proud. We feel like we are in a great place heading into postseason.
"This is exactly what we needed for our team and going forward. Just the confidence we can gain from a performance like this, especially on the road and in an environment that was so loud and so much fun."
All-Around
Minnesota's Loper and Ramler and Utah's Grace McCallum were the only three gymnasts to compete in the all-around. Loper tied McCallum, who competed for Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, for the title with a 39.675. Ramler finished with a 39.575. Loper scored a 9.900 or better in every rotation, with her best mark of the night coming on vault where she scored a 9.950. The fifth-year senior also had a 9.925 on the beam and a 9.900 on both the bars and the floor.
