Minnesota Finishes Tied for Sixth at the Indiana Invitational

Bloomington, Ind. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team placed in a tie for sixth after completing their third and final round of play on Sunday. After the shotgun start was delayed an hour and a half, the Maroon and Gold played 18 holes on Sunday. The Gophers capped off the event with a score of 308-301-306—915.
Each of Minnesota's top three golfers finished within three strokes of each other. Junior Grace Curran and Senior Geraldine Wong sat at first and second on the Gophers' leaderboard, respectively.
18th-ranked Michigan finished the tournament in first place, led by Ashley Lau's 67-73-68—208 final score.

"This wasn't our best overall performance, with the work we've been putting in we have much higher expectations," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We've got 10 days until the B1G championship and have much to work on. The most important thing we can do collectively is evaluate this result and put in the work on the areas we struggled."

Curran's tournament score of 74-78-76—228 placed her in a tie for 16th at the completion of the event. She finished the event strong on day two, jumping from 20th place to tied for 16th.
After bouncing back in round two, Wong finished the event with a final score of 82-71-76—229. She had two birdies and just one bogey in round two. Wong finished in a tie for 18th place.
Junior Emma Carpenter finished the event with a score of 74-76-81—231. She started the event off strong with a two-over par (74) round one, which included two birdies.
Finishing with a 81-76-76—233 score was senior Joanne Free, who finished in a tie for 27th place after two birdies in the third and final round.
Freshman Alexis McMurray scored a six-over par (78) in the final round, capping off the event with a score of 82-78-78—238. She placed in a tie for 36th place.
Junior Leah Herzog rounded out the Gophers' lineup with a final score of 79-79-81—239 and tied for 43rd place finish.
