Frank Honored by Big Ten For Third Time

MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota sophomore Shelby Frank has been honored by the Big Ten Conference as the Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La.
Frank became the school's record holder in the discus with a toss of 58.00m (190-3) to win the event. Her mark, which she threw on her fifth attempt, puts her fifth in the nation this year and first among Big Ten throwers. Frank becomes the first Gopher to reach the 58-meter mark in the event and broke Agness Esser's record that was in place since 2018. She's also the seventh Big Ten student-athlete in history to throw a mark at least 58 meters and her mark is the seventh career-best mark in conference history.
Frank has been honored three times this season as the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week. She's earned the honor twice outdoors and once indoors.
The University of Minnesota track and field team is headed to the Drake Relays this weekend and will also have student-athletes compete at Simpson College and Macalester.
