Mafe Headed to Seattle, Taken With No. 40 Overall Pick

Mafe played in 42 career games for the Gophers and made 87 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks
The Seattle Seahawks selected Minnesota defensive lineman Boye Mafe in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the 40th overall pick.
Mafe, who was named All-Big Ten Second Team in 2021, played in 42 career games for the Gophers and made 87 tackles (59 solo), 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks (ranks ninth all-time in school history). He also forced three fumbles and broke up three passes during this collegiate career.
The Minnesota native turned in dominant performances at the 2022 NFL Combine and the 2022 Senior Bowl.
At the combine, Mafe ran a blistering 4.53 in the 40-yard dash to record the fourth fastest time of the day among defensive linemen. His vertical jump was 38 inches, which was tied for the second-best mark in his position group and his broad jump was 10'5", which tied for fourth in the defensive ends. Mafe improved his vertical to 41.5 inches at Minnesota's local pro day.
