BLOOMINGTON, Indiana -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers (14-31, 4-14 Big Ten) are set to take on the Indiana Hoosiers (22-26, 8-10 Big Ten) in a three-game series this weekend in Bloomington, Ind. Friday and Sunday's games will be streamed on B1G+. Friday's game will start at 6 p.m. CT and Sunday's will begin at noon CT. Saturday's game on BTN will begin at 3 p.m. CT. The Gophers are coming off two straight wins over Nebraska while the Hoosiers defeated Michigan on the road in two of three games last weekend.

SCOUTING INDIANA
-The Hoosiers are led by fourth-year coach Jeff Mercer. In year one, he led IU to the NCAA Tournament, where they played in the Louisville Regional. After a COVID-shortened 2020 season, IU went 26-18 in the conference-only 2021 season, narrowly missing the NCAA Tournament.
-In 2022, IU has won three straight midweek games and come away with three straight Big Ten series victories over the last three weekends to get squarely back into the Big Ten Tournament race. IU enters the weekend ranked No. 7 in the conference with two weekends to play.
-As a team, the Hoosiers rank third in the Big Ten in home runs (63) and RBI (315) while placing sixth in overall batting average (.282).
-Catcher Matthew Ellis (15 HR, 51 RBI) and outfielder Carter Mathison (15 HR, 45 RBI) each rank in the top 10 in the conference in home runs and RBI.

SERIES HISTORY
-Minnesota leads the all-time series 113-54 against Indiana. The Gophers have lost have straight games in the series, with all five coming last season.
-The Gophers and Hoosiers played three times in Bloomington last year, with IU winning 9-3, 7-1 and 23-1.
-IU has won seven of the last nine in the series since the Gophers swept then No. 15 Indiana at Siebert Field in 2018.
-Dating back to 2012, Minnesota is just 3-9 on the road at IU. In 2011, however, the Gophers swept the Hoosiers on the road, which is the last time they won a road series in Bloomington.

LAST TIME OUT
-Minnesota went 2-1 against Nebraska, earning its first Big Ten series win since May 16-18, 2019.
-After falling 12-5 on Friday, Minnesota rebounded to win 9-8 in 12 innings Saturday before taking a 3-1 victory home on Sunday.
-Aidan Maldonado went 7.0 innings, striking out eight and allowing just one earned run on Sunday while Boston Merila paced the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the dish.
-Merila hit 7-for-14 on the weekend and slashed the game-winning walkoff single on Saturday night to beat Nebraska.

-In the same timeframe, senior Josh Culliver holds a 3.52 ERA in eight appearances, striking out four in 7.2 IP. He picked up his first win of 22 on Saturday.

-Skoro is set to make the first start of his Minnesota career on Saturday against Indiana.

GOPHERS GOING THROUGH ROAD WOES
-Since winning 9-1 on opening day at FAU, Minnesota is 0-16 on the road this season. The Gophers are hitting just .223 in road games and have an 7.93 ERA as a staff. The 'U' is 0-9 in Big Ten road games.
