'U' Finishes Seventh at B1G Championships

Lindsay Eliasen and Gabby Mullally were recognized with All-Big Ten honors.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Led by a fifth-place finish from the First Varsity Eight boat, the Gopher Rowing program finished seventh at the 2022 Big Ten Rowing Championships on Sunday morning at the Indianapolis Rowing Center.

In the final race of the morning, the Maroon & Gold's First Varsity Eight boat picked up the program's best finish of the day -- clocking a time of 6:26.860 to finish in fifth-place for the race. The First Varsity Four boat and the Second Varsity Eight boat both added seventh-place showings for the Gophers with times of 7:28.751 and 6:48.085, respectively. Minnesota opened the day with a trio of eighth-place finishes from the First Novice Eight boat (7:21.464), the Third Varsity Four boat (7:58.761) and the Second Varsity Four boat (7:47.891). 

A trio of Minnesota student-athletes earned recognition from the Big Ten Conference as part of Sunday's competition including two captains for the Maroon & Gold. Lindsay Eliasen was named First Team All-Big Ten for her second-straight conference accolade while Gabby Mullally picked up Second Team All-Big Ten honors. Meanwhile, Harriet Haege was Minnesota's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. 

The Maroon & Gold totaled 59 points to finish seventh at the conference regatta while Ohio State (184), Michigan (174), Rutgers (137), Indiana (115), Iowa (75), Wisconsin (70) and Michigan State (47) were also competing on the water.
