MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota men's golf team will have representation at the U.S. Amateur this week, as Gopher-newcomer Jacob Pedersen will compete in the event. The 2022 tournament will be held at the Ridgewood Country Club and Arcola Country Club, both in Paramus, N.J.

Pedersen qualified for the U.S. Amateur after finishing third in qualifying in late June, as after two rounds he was four-under par (140). He completed this first round with a score of six-under par (66), which propelled him to a qualifying finish.

Pedersen heads east after his runner-up performance at the Sanford Golf Futures Tour in the college men's division. The fifth-year golfer also played in the MGA Amateur Championship on July 17 in Eden Prairie, Minn.

Pedersen arrives in Minneapolis after four years at Gustavus Adolphus College, during which he earned MIAC Player of the Year honors twice.
