Potomak Sisters Selected to Team Canada

MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher alumna Sarah Potomak has been named to the Canadian National Team ahead of the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark. It will be Potomak's second appearance on Canada's senior national team after debuting during the 2017 Women's Worlds. Younger sister, Amy, was one of 23 athletes named to the Canadian Development Team

The 'U' will now be represented on four of the ten teams in the tournament after athletes were previously named to the United States, Finland and Sweden national teams. The tournament will run from Aug. 25 – Sept. 4 with Team Canada's first action coming against Finland at 12:00 p.m. CT on Aug. 25.

Amy Potomak and the Canadian Development Team will play a three-game series against Abbey Murphy, Madeline Wethington and the rest of the United States Collegiate Select Roster on Aug. 17, 18 and 20. 

Sarah Potomak is the ninth Gopher to be named to a national team roster ahead of this year's women's worlds, joining Hannah Brandt (USA), Taylor Heise (USA), Amanda Kessel (USA), Kelly Pannek (USA), Lee Stecklein (USA), Grace Zumwinkle (USA), Nelli Laitinen (Finland) and Josefin Bouveng (Sweden).
