'U' Releases Full 2022-23 Men's Hockey Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS - Coming back from its trip to the NCAA Frozen Four, the reigning Big Ten Conference champion University of Minnesota men's hockey team released its full schedule for the 2022-23 season Monday. Game times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

The Golden Gophers are set for 34 regular season games, plus two exhibitions, with 19 of those coming inside 3M Arena at Mariucci. League play again will feature a double-round-robin format where each team plays both a home and an away series with the other six conference members for a total of 12 home and 12 away contests.

The campaign begins at home Oct. 1-2 hosting Lindenwood, a team making its NCAA debut, ahead of a home-and-home series Oct. 7-8 with Minnesota State. The series against the Mavericks opens at 3M Arena at Mariucci Friday night before the Gophers head to Mankato, Minn., for game two Saturday. After a week off, the season continues at home Oct. 21-22 as the Maroon & Gold renew a rivalry with the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota.

Big Ten action begins Oct. 28-29 as Minnesota travels to Ohio State and continues during back-to-back home sets against Notre Dame (Nov. 4-5) and Penn State (Nov. 10-11). That closes a stretch where nine of the team's first 12 games of the season are at home.

The next three weeks see the Gophers away from home starting Nov. 17-18 at Michigan in a rematch of last season's B1G tournament title game. The program's first-ever trip to the Grand Canyon State to face Arizona State at its new arena is slated for Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25-26) before the 'U' heads to Michigan State Dec. 2-3.

Minnesota hosts Wisconsin Dec. 9-10 prior to closing the 2022 calendar year in a pair of exhibition matchups. The Gophers host the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Dec. 29 and travel to Bemidji State in a New Year's Eve tilt.

A home-and-home series with St. Cloud State awaits the Maroon & Gold opening 2023 Jan. 7-8 in the final non-conference action of the season. B1G play continues as the Gophers make a trip to South Bend, Ind., to battle Notre Dame Jan. 13-14.
