MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota men's golf team had three of its members listed as Big Ten Golfers to Watch for 2022-23, the Big Ten announced on Wednesday afternoon. The announcement of the honorees comes nearly two weeks before the Gopher Invitational on Sept. 11-12.

42 men's college golfers from 13 different schools were named Big Ten Preseason Honorees.

The three Gopher nominees are senior Antoine Sale, junior Ben Warian and sophomore Bennett Swavely. Each of the three are first time nominees.

Sale enters his second year playing in the Maroon and Gold after ending his first year with a round score average of 73.31. The Chateau d'Oleron, France native also posted three top 20 finishes throughout last season.

Warian earns the Preseason Nominee honors after leading the Gophers with a round score average of 72.83. He finished T-9th at the Boilermaker Invitational in April. Warian – and Swavely – competed in US Open sectional qualifying in early June. Warian adds this preseason honor to a summer in which he also earned All-Big Ten honors, as well as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar honors.

After completing his freshman season with a T-13th place finish at the Marquette Intercollegiate, Swavely earns the Big Ten Golfer to Watch honor heading into just his second season.
