SERIES HISTORY – DRAKE
This is the seventh meeting between the Golden Gophers and Bulldogs, and only the third time they have played at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Minnesota leads the series 4-1-1 with its most recent win coming in 2021.
Last season the Gophers topped Drake, 1-0. Graduate defender Delaney Stekr won the game off a penalty kick in the fourth minute. The Maroon and Gold led in shots, 16-5, and corner kicks, 7-1.
Drake has only picked up one win over the Gophers, which was back in 2003. The Bulldogs won in a dominant, 4-1 win.
SERIES HISTORY – NORTH DAKOTA
Sunday's match marks the first time the Gophers and Fighting Hawks will face each other on North Dakota's home pitch. Minnesota leads the series, 2-0. In both Golden Gopher victories, North Dakota was blanked at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
Last season, the Maroon and Gold won the contest, 2-0. The only other meeting took place in 2016, when the Gophers won 3-0 in Minneapolis.
SCOUTING DRAKE
Drake comes into Thursday's match with a 1-3 record. They saw a 3-1 win over Kansas City followed by three-straight losses against Saint Louis, St. Thomas, and Kansas. The Bulldogs are led by Emma Nagel who's seen the back of the net twice this season. Her first was against Saint Louis and second against Kansas. Nagel leads all returners from last season with four goals, three game winners, and four assists.
Nagel, along with Lily Overstreet and Makenna Shepard were named to the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Watchlist. During the 2021 season, Overstreet helped post nine shutouts while Shepard returns for her sophomore year with three goals and two assists under her belt.
Last week, freshman Layla Kelbel garnered MVC Freshman of the Week honors for her goal against Kansas City.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota heads into the weekend sporting a 2-1-1 record so far on the 2022 season. The Fighting Hawks saw wins over Southern Indiana and Jamestown followed by a loss against Northern Colorado and draw against Wyoming.
The Fighting Hawks have three players who have accumulated one goal in Irene Jirasevijinda, Amelia Loef-fler, and Olivia Valdivia. Goalkeeper Maddi Livingston has started three games and has captured 12 saves.
North Dakota saw two of their own earn Summit League Player to Watch List nods. Alongside Livingston, Hannah Olson also received the honor. During the 2021 campaign, Livingston had 69 saves last season and boasted a .726 save percentage. Olson had 17 appearances with 12 starts, she was seventh in the league with 35 shots and averaged 2.5 per game.
LAST SERIES RECAP
Last week, Minnesota opened its home season against the Cal Poly Mustangs.
The Gophers dished out 19 shots, compared to Cal Poly's nine, but lost 1-0 after the Mustangs put away a goal off a cross in the 77th minute.
Minnesota then traveled to Starkville, Miss., to face the Bulldogs on the road. The Gophers once again led in shots, 8-7, but it wasn't enough as Mississippi State won the game off a chance eight minutes into the second half.

Thursday's match will also feature different promotions. Donations for the Dwelling Place will be accepted, a full list of items eligible for donation can be found on gophersports.com. Thursday will also offer $8 tickets.

Up next, the Golden Gophers host Nebraska Omaha on Thursday, Sept. 8 and Marquette on Sunday, Sept. 11 for a home weekend doubleheader. Minnesota's first Big Ten match is set for Friday, Sept. 17 at Nebraska.

The Gophers had three student-athletes named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List, announced by the conference office. Sophia Boman, Megan Plaschko and Izzy Brown were recognized. This is Boman's second time being named to the list, but a first for Plaschko and Brown.
SISTER-SISTER
In NCAA Division I women's soccer, there are 26 schools that feature at least one set on sisters. Of those 26, eight schools' roster two sets of sisters – Minnesota one of them. Minnesota natives Sadie Harper and Khyah Harper sit alongside Izzy Brown and Amelia Brown, who reign from Cary, N.C.TCU, who put up two goals within the last five minutes.
