MINNEAPOLIS- Minnesota Tennis finished up play Sunday afternoon for their annual Gopher Invitational at Baseline Tennis Center. The Gophers hosted Marquette, North Dakota, South Dakota, Northern Iowa and St. Thomas over a three-day tournament. Maroon and Gold had continued success throughout the weekend, securing a 16-6 doubles record, and sweeping singles 22-0.
Singles Play
The Gophers success stood out in the singles portion of the tournament. Maroon and Gold were consistent throughout the weekend, sweeping all three days of the singles series. The overall 22-0 record was accomplished by returning student-athletes Vasia Karvouni, Zeyneb Sarioglan, and Lucy Lu, as well as Gopher debuts Zoey Weil, Anet Koskel, Sofia Pizzoni, and Aiva Schmitz.
Doubles Play
The Gophers rotating pairs played well throughout the weekend, winning over 70% of their matches played. Standout performers included transfer Zoey Weil and freshman Anet Koskel going 6-0 in their doubles matches throughout the tournament.
