QUICK KICKS: MICHIGAN
In the all-time series against the Wolverines, Minnesota leads 15-9-5. Their last meeting occurred on Feb. 25, 2021, in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines came out victorious, 2-0, on their home field.

Prior to 2021, the Gophers were undefeated against Michigan in their last three matches, 1-0-2. All three meetings went into double overtime.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN
The Wolverines sport a 5-4-2 record, with a 4-1 record on the road. In their five road matches, Michigan has outscored its opponents 21-4.

Junior Sammi Woods is second overall in the Big Ten and ranked No. 20 nationally with 11 goals. This season, she has scored three goals on three separate occasions.

All three keepers have seen action, as graduate Izzy Nino leads with 720 minutes and 23 saves. Nino holds a 1.000 goals against average, good enough for 10th overall in the Big Ten.

QUICK KICKS: WISCONSIN
Minnesota will hit the road on Sunday with a Border Battle against No. 23 Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers have faced the Badgers 24 times in program history, amassing a 9-13-2 record in favor of Wisconsin.

The series have been defined by close matchups, with 17 meetings being decided by one goal. In their last 10 meetings, the Badgers have gone undefeated, 9-0-1, against the Gophers.

Cracking the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for the third time, Wisconsin heads into their game against Maryland on Thursday, 8-1-2. Despite going unranked in the last three polls, the Badgers have still received votes to sit amongst the nation's best.

SCOUTING WISCONSIN
Senior Emma Jaskaniec poses as Wisconsin's offensive threat. With 11 goals in nine games, Jaskaniec is the Big Ten's top scorer.

Jaskaniec's 2.273 GPG ranks her 11th nationally, while she is ranked third for game winning goals.

Between the posts, graduate Erin McKinney has been stronghold in Wisconsin's six shutouts. Her 44 saves this season ranks her second overall in the Big Ten in shutouts and third overall in saves per game, averaging 2.00 SPG.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
On Thursday night in its Big Ten home opener, Minnesota handed Indiana its first loss of the 2022 season. The Hoosiers came into the match with nine straight shutouts while leading the NCAA with a 0.00 goals against average.

Gabbie Cesarone, Izzy Brown, and Christa Van Loon shattered their scoreless streak by lifting the Gophers to a 3-0 victory. With the win, Minnesota became the first team to score on Indiana this season.

SOPHIA TIMES THREE
Dominating the midfield is a trio of Sophias. Juniors Sophia Boman and Sophia Romine, while Sophia Barjesteh is in her freshman season.

Romine and Boman have both started all 11 matches for the Golden Gophers, while Barjesteh has made 10 appearances off the bench.

"Bo and Ro" are accountable for one-third of Minnesota's goals this season, scoring a combined six. Each have also scored a brace, Romine against North Dakota, and Boman against Marquette.

USE YOUR HEAD GABBIE!
Of Minnesota's last three games, graduate Gabbie Cesarone is averaging 1.000 goals per game. Each time, the defender has found the back of the net off corners using her head.

Cesarone, a WashU transfer, scored seven goals during her tenure with the Bears. She needs four more goals this season to match her undergrad feat.

Cesarone has also been a staple in the backline, allowing opponents only 36 shots on goal compared to Minnesota's 62.

LAST WEEKEND RECAP
The Gophers saw a split weekend against the Hoosiers and Wildcats. Picking up their first Big Ten win over Indiana, Minnesota scored three goals in the second half.

Following the win, the Gophers had a quick turnaround against a top ten opponent in Northwestern. After Sadie Harper scored a goal to tie the match, 1-1, the Wildcats answered back to take their seventh win in-a-row.
