MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota alumna Mira Jalosuo and former assistant coach Jake Bobrowski have been named assistant coaches of Minnesota's Professional Women's Hockey League franchise, the team announced Wednesday. Jalosuo and Bobrowski join Charlie Burggraf -- who will serve as head coach -- on the team's coaching staff, who also served as an assistant coach for the Gopher women's hockey team in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
Jalosuo and Bobrowski join Burggraft, Natalie Darwitz, Kelly Pannek, Lee Stecklein, Taylor Heise, Grace Zumwinkle and Amanda Leveille as those with Gopher ties that are currently with Minnesota's franchise. Darwitz, after being named general manager, has built a coaching staff and roster with multiple connections to the Maroon and Gold.
Jalosuo was a staple of the Gophers' defense from 2009 to 2013, registering 57 points during her tenure with the Maroon and Gold. In international play, Jalosuo won bronze medals with team Finland at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and at the IIHF World Championships in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, and 2017.
Bobrowski served on Brad Frost's coaching staff during the 2021-22 season, a year in which the Gophers made it to the WCHA Final Faceoff Championship game against Ohio State.
Prior to his time at the University of Minnesota, the St. Paul, Minn. native spent six seasons at Hamline University. Bobrowski helped lead the Pipers to the NCAA D-III Frozen Four in 2018 and NCAA D-III National Runners-Up in 2019. During his time at Hamline, the Pipers went 88-41-14 overall and 58-26-9 in the MIAC. He served on Natalie Darwitz's staff since their arrival at Hamline in 2015-16.
