Laitinen Named WCHA Defender of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota sophomore Nelli Laitinen has been named WCHA Defender of the Week after scoring two goals and adding two assists in Minnesota's series with Ohio State, the conference announced Monday.
Laitinen earns a WCHA weekly award for the first time, following a career series against the Buckeyes on Oct. 27-28. The Lohja, Finland native notched her first multi-goal game of her career on Oct. 28, finding the back of the net twice while also adding one assist. Saturday's game brought her series point total to four, the most she's ever recorded in one series.
Minnesota (5-2-0) will host Minnesota State (2-6-0) on Nov. 3 and then travel to Mankato for their series finale on Nov. 4. Friday's game begins at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+, while Saturday's action will be broadcast on FOX 9+ with puck drop scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT.
