Tied career best points in series finale
ROSEMONT, Ill. - For the third time in his career, Bryce Brodzinski of the Minnesota men's hockey team was named a Big Ten Conference Star of the Week as he claimed the top honor Tuesday.
Brodzinski was a force on special teams over the weekend and totaled five points on three goals and two assists for the Golden Gophers. He had a power-play goal Friday night which gave the Maroon and Gold a lead in the third period and followed that up by matching a career high with four points Sunday. The fifth-year senior posted two goals on the man advantage in the series finale against Michigan State to go with two assists, including one that led to Jimmy Clark's overtime game winner. It was the ninth time during his career where he scored multiple goals.
A native of Blaine, Minn., he extended his team-leading point total to 16 and is now tied for the lead in goals at eight. Brodzinski moved one point away from 100 as a Gopher thanks to nine points during a current, four-game point streak, with three multi-point outings in that stretch.
Brodzinski has now picked up a weekly award from the conference in three different seasons during his career, coming as a second star during his freshman season (Feb. 4, 2020) and a third star a year ago (Nov. 15, 2022). He is the fifth different Gopher to be honored by the league this season, joining Brody Lamb (Nov. 14), Rhett Pitlick (Nov. 7), Justen Close (Oct. 24), and Jimmy Snuggerud (Oct. 17).
