MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota freshman YuTong Wang has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Wang swept the 1-meter and 3-meter dives last week in a dual meet against No. 22-ranked Wisconsin.
In the 1-meter, he took the top spot with a score of 348.83, edging out the competition by 6.15 points. On the 3-meter board, he crossed the 400-point threshold for the second time this season, scoring a 401.70.
Wang has hit the qualifying mark in both the 1-meter and 3-meter in each of his dives this season. He currently holds the top three scores of the season in both dives for the Gophers.
This is the second time this season that he has earned the distinction of Big Ten Diver of the Week after doing so on Oct. 18.
Wang and the rest of the Gophers swim and dive team will return back to action on Nov. 29 for the annual Minnesota Invite.
