Nubin was previously named All-Big Ten First Team
The 2023 Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, and the Associated Press All-American teams were announced this morning and Minnesota defensive back Tyler Nubin was named to the Second Team on both teams.Â
Nubin, who was named a Walter Camp All-American last week, is the 25th Gopher all-time to be recognized as an All-American by the FWAA.Â
The All-Big Ten First Team honoree made 53 tackles this year and had five interceptions and four pass breakups. He has played in 55 career games for the Maroon and Gold and has made 207 tackles. His 13 career interceptions are a program record.
Nubin's selection marks the first time that Minnesota has had back-to-back seasons with an FWAA All-American since 2004-05, as John Michael Schmitz (First Team) and Mohamed Ibrahim (Second Team) were honored last year. The last Gopher to be named an FWAA All-American on defense was Antoine Winfield Jr., who was named to the First Team in 2019.Â
The AFCA (Dec. 12) and Sporting News (Dec. 13) will announce their All-American teams this week.
