3M Arena at Mariucci, Ridder Arena to Undergo Facility Improvements

Construction to start shortly after the end of the men's hockey season
The University of Minnesota Board of Regents approved renovations and improvements to 3M Arena at Mariucci and adjacent Ridder Arena at its June 2022 meeting.
The renovations, which include shrinking the ice size at 3M Arena at Mariucci and upgrading the ice infrastructure for both ice rinks, are scheduled to start shortly after the men's hockey season ends. The project is scheduled to be completed in fall 2023.
Reducing the competition ice sheet at 3M Arena at Mariucci will also allow Gopher Athletics to add additional fan seating for current season-ticket holders or new ones. Beginning in the 2023-24 season, the capacity of 3M Arena at Mariucci, which has been 10,000, is expected to increase by 200-300 seats. As a result, every section in the main seating bowl will be affected, although some of the changes will be minor.
With the addition of new seats, Athletics will renumber each row and some of the seats in the arena. Athletics anticipates that the view season-ticket holders will have in 2023-24 will be similar – if not the same – to the view from the 2022-23 season. Season-ticket holders who had aisle seats in 2022-23 will also have aisle seats on their renewal application for the 2023-24 season.
Athletics has created a website that details every change to each section in 3M Arena at Mariucci. This site also contains a timeline for current season-ticket holders and provides an opportunity for new season-ticket holders to purchase tickets for the upcoming 2023-24 season, which will be the 103rd of Gopher hockey.
Fans with additional questions about their seating options can call 1-800-U-GOPHER or send an email to GopherSports@umn.edu. Individuals with questions may also seek in-person help from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Friday at the 3M Arena at Mariucci Ticket Office.
