STARTING FIVE
•  The University of Minnesota men's basketball team is back in action for the fourth time in eight days when it plays at Nebraska Saturday. Minnesota is in the midst of four games in a week, three of which are on the road. The Feb 20 game vs. Illinois was rescheduled due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols with Minnesota and originally scheduled for Feb. 7. Minnesota played at Maryland on Wednesday and play at Nebraska Saturday.
•  The Gophers are 15-14 on the Huskers' home court. Minnesota is looking for its first win at Nebraska since February 5, 2012. The Gophers won that game, 69-61 that season under then head coach Tubby Smith.
•  Minnesota dropped an 88-70 contest to Maryland on Wednesday night in College Park, Md. Pharrel Payne led Minnesota with 17 points, Dawson Garcia had 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and Jaden Henley added 14 points. Payne was 7-of-11 from the field, scoring 13 points in the second half, and finished with 17 points in 17 minutes. Payne has scored double digits in three of his past five games. Jaden Henley had a career-high three steals and reached double-figures in the scoring column for the third time this season and the second time in the past four games. Henley has started returned to the starting lineup during the Iowa game.
•  Minnesota made 3-of-5 (.600) from three-point range in the first half against Maryland and finished the game at 7-of-10, which ranked fourth in school history and is the best effort since making 11-of-15 (733) versus Franklin Pierce on Nov. 20, 2014. It marked the ninth time the Gophers have had more than seven threes in a game this season and first since their Ohio State win on Jan. 12.
•  Jamison Battle added 31 points against Illinois Monday, his second 30-point production game of his Gopher career. In fact, Battle scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half of the Illinois game. The last time a Gopher player had 20 points in a half was also Battle when he had 21 against Michigan on Dec. 11, 2021. Battle has had five 20-plus point games this season and scored double figures now in 42 games as a Gopher and 14 this season.
