Gophers Qualify Four Entries for NCAA Indoors

The NCAA unveiled the official selections on Tuesday night on NCAA.com.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gopher track & field program will be represented by four entries at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The NCAA announced the full list of qualifiers on Tuesday night with the event consisting of 17 events with a total of 650 participants across the men's and women's side.
The Gophers have two representatives in the 60m with Amira Young and Akilah Lewis qualifying after their performances at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Young's qualification marks the second time the Chicago, Ill., native has reached the NCAA Indoor Championships and the first time since 2021. For Lewis it is the first time she has qualified in any indoor event.
In the field both Shelby Frank and Nyalaam Jok will make their NCAA Indoor Championship debuts with Frank qualifying in the weight throw and Jok in the high jump. Both Frank and Jok are All-Americans outdoors in their careers with Jok earning the distinction in the high jump as a freshman while Frank's outdoor All-America finish is in the discus.
The NCAA Indoor Championships are Friday, March 10 through Saturday, March 11 in Albuquerque, N.M. ESPN+ will stream the championships live starting at 10:30 a.m. CT Friday, March 10 and starting at 12:30 p.m. CT Saturday, March 11. There will be two re-airs of the meet. The first re-air will take place starting at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 on ESPNU. The second re-air of the championship will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13 on ESPNU.
