Minnesota Picks Up Dominant Wins on Day Two of Gopher Indoor Classic

GAME ONE
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers rallied to score two in the seventh inning and walked it off on sophomore Kayla Chavez's two-run home run off of junior Grace Lehto to pick up the 2-1 victory over the Central Michigan Chippewas Saturday.
Autumn Pease (7-3) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minnesota (13-9). The right-hander went two shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing one walk and striking out six. Junior Jacie Hambrick also made an impact in the circle for the Golden Gophers, starting the ballgame and throwing three scoreless innings while allowing one hit.
At the plate, the Gophers were led by Chavez, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Freshman Jess Oakland compiled a standout at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Junior Maddy Ehlke also helped out for Minnesota, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minnesota did not score until the bottom of the seventh, when they put up two runs trailing 1-0, walking it off on Chavez's two-out two-run home run off of Lehto.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Autumn Pease was dealing on Friday, throwing a one-hit shutout to lead the Gophers past the Idaho State Bengals 9-0.
Pease (8-3) went the distance for Minnesota (14-9), giving up one hit, walking none and striking out 12.
Oakland led the way offensively for the Gophers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and three RBI. Junior Clare Ceynowa furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with her first career home run and two RBI. Ehlke also contributed, going 2-for-3 for Minnesota with two doubles and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Minnesota scored twice, with one run coming across on senior Amani Bradley's single.
The Gophers then tacked on runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored three times. Those three runs came across on a three-run homer from Oakland that scored sophomore Kayla Chavez and senior Natalie DenHartog.
