Minnesota Completes First Two Rounds at Valspar Augusta Invitational

Freshman Isabella McCauley istied for 14th with a score of 1-over-par 145
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished rounds one and two of the Valspar Augusta Invitational today. The team improved by 11 strokes between rounds, and Isabella McCauley leads the team individually tied for 14th.
The U shot a 302 (+14) in round one and a 291 (+3) in round two for a total of 593 (+17). This score has them in 10th place heading into Sunday.
No. 2 Wake Forest sits on top of the leaderboard with a two day total of 563 (-13).

"We again had the tale of two rounds. I'm really pleased with how the team responded after being set back after the first round," said head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "Bella was really impressive today, as she found a way to score her ball after getting over par. Emma and Mariana also responded really well with under par rounds in the afternoon. We've again got a chance to get some ranked wins and we're ready for that challenge tomorrow"
Notable:
Freshman Isabella McCauley was locked in all day shooting a 72 (E) in round one and a 73 (+1) in round two. Her two day score of 145 (+1) has her in a tie for 14th.
Fellow freshman Luisamariana Mesones improved five strokes between rounds, totalling a 147 (+3). Mesones is tied for 22nd.
Emma Carpenter showed impressive improvement between rounds today. Her 71(-1) in round two moved her forward 20 places as she is tied for 49th.
Senior Leah Herzog shot a spring best 74 (+2) in round one. She sits in a tie for 57th with a score of 153 (+9).
Grace Curran notched 21 pars alongside 3 birdies between rounds. With a total score of 156 (+12) Curran is tied for 65th.
