Minnesota Set for Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 20 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will travel to Coralville, Iowa for a meeting with their conference opponents on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m. The Gophers have scored above 197.000 in two consecutive meets, meaning they've gained momentum headed into postseason competition.
Last Time Out
The Maroon and Gold claimed victory over Arkansas on March 10, winning by a score of 197.075 to 196.900 in Fayetteville.
Junior Gianna Gerdes -- named All-Big Ten First Team on March 15-- tied a career-high score of 9.950 on floor on Friday, part of another outstanding floor performance from the Gophers. Senior Halle Remlinger and junior Mya Hooten each scored 9.925, adding to the team total of 49.525.

Minnesota comes in at No. 20 in the RoadToNationals rankings ahead of the Big Ten Championships. They rank No. 13 on vault, No. 19 on bars, No. 41 on beam and No. 11 on floor.
Junior Mya Hooten, recently named All-Big Ten First Team, ranks No. 2 in the nation on floor ahead of Saturday's meet.
Senior Halle Remlinger has been a model of consistency on floor this season, and she comes in at No. 17 in the rankings before the Gophers' meeting with their conference rivals. Remlinger was named All-Big Ten Second Team on Wednesday.
B1G Weekly Honors
Most recently, redshirt senior Maddie Quarles was named Event Specialist of the Week after her 9.950 on vault against Arkansas. This is the second time she's earned the honors in 2023. Quarles was also named All-Big Ten Second Team.
Senior Halle Remlinger was named Co-Event Specialist of the Week after recording her first perfect 10 on floor against Boise State on March 4.
Another Minnesota gymnast recording their first perfect 10 was redshirt senior Maddie Quarles, as she earned a 10.000 on vault during the Big Five meet. She was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week on March 1.
Freshman Seria Johnson earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week after her performance at the Wasatch Classic, where the Gophers competed against Boise State.
Junior Gianna Gerdes was named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week as well, her first weekly conference award of her career.
Junior Mya Hooten has earned B1G Weekly awards on three separate occasions in 2023, earning Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors twice and Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week once.
