Gophers Set to Begin Big Ten Slate against Wisconsin and Iowa

The Golden Gophers jump start their 12-dual stretch of Big Ten matchups this weekend, hosting the Wisconsin Badgers (Mar. 3) and the Iowa Hawkeyes (Mar. 5) at Baseline.
Minneapolis– The University of Minnesota tennis program will compete against the Wisconsin Badgers and the Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend to kick off their nine-week long conference slate. The Maroon and Gold compete against the Badgers on Mar. 3 at 3:30 p.m., CT and versus the Hawkeyes on Mar. 5 at 11:00 a.m. CT at Baseline Tennis Center. Matches are free to attend.Â

Minnesota competed last weekend versus Utah and Memphis, claiming their first-ever win over Utah, while dropping to Memphis on Feb. 26. The Gophers are 5-5 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten.
The CompetitionÂ
Wisconsin is 9-2 overall and is coming off a 5-2 win over Baylor on Feb. 19. Iowa is 4-4 overall, with its most recent 4-0 loss to Iowa State last weekend. Both opponents kick off their Big Ten play this weekend at Baseline.
All-Time History
Minnesota met Wisconsin for the first time during the 1976-77 season, when the Gophers fell 7-2 to the Badgers. Over the years, the Maroon and Gold are 24-43 versus Wisconsin. The Gophers are 43-26 against Iowa, first meeting in 1977 when Minnesota defeated Iowa 7-2.Â
