MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota gymnasts Mya Hooten and Maddie Quarles have been named All-Americans by the WCGA, the association announced Thursday. Hooten was named a First Team All-American on floor and Second Team All-American on vault, and Quarles was named a Second Team All-American on vault.

Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all-around earned All America honors. Second team All-America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.

Hooten replicates her WCGA accolades from 2022 with the recent announcement, as she was named to the First Team on floor and the Second Team on vault last season. The Woodbury, Minn. native has earned two perfect 10s on floor this season, bringing her career total to six ahead of regional competition. Her season average on floor sits at an incredible 9.943 before regionals, with an NQS of 9.970.

Quarles recorded her first career perfect 10 on vault at the Big Five meet on Feb. 25, a performance that earned Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week honors for the first time. This is the second time Quarles has been named a Second Team All-American, with the other time coming after the 2021 season. The Andover, Minn. native heads into regional competition with a season average of 9.841 on vault and an NQS of 9.920.

Hooten and Quarles have powered the Gophers on vault all season long, and will look to continue their success at the Denver Regional on March 31.
