Gophers Travel for Denver Regional With NCAA Championships Appearance at Stake

No. 18 Minnesota will compete against Michigan, Denver and the winner of Arizona and North Carolina
The No. 18 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will compete at the Denver Regional on March 31 - April 2.
The Denver Regional will be hosted by the University of Denver and is one of four regional meets held nationally. Competition will take place at Magness Arena and in addition to Minnesota, the region will feature No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 LSU, No. 11 Oregon State, No. 13 Denver, No. 19 Georgia, Nebraska, Arizona and North Carolina.
Minnesota will compete in session two of the second round on March 31 against Michigan, Denver and the winner of Arizona and North Carolina.
The top two teams from each second round session will advance to the Regional Final on April 2. The top two teams from the Regional Final will advance to the NCAA Championships April 13-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Last Time Out
The Maroon and Gold took third place at the Big Ten Championships on March 18, sending them to Regionals after earning a 197.250 team score on the night. Their performance in Coralville, Iowa marked their second-highest score of the season.
Junior Mya Hooten took home Big Ten event titles on floor and vault at the Big Ten Championships, earning scores of 9.950 and 9.925, respectively. The conference titles are her second and third of her career, with the first one coming in 2022 on floor. The Woodbury, Minn. native took home WCGA All-American First Team honors on floor and Second Team honors on vault on March 23.
Gianna Gerdes earned an all-around score of 39.475 in Iowa, placing her sixth among all-around competitors. The All-Big Ten First Team member has scored no lower than 9.900 in six consecutive meets heading into regional competition.

Minnesota comes in at No. 18 in the national rankings ahead of the NCAA Denver Regional. They rank No. 14 on vault, No. 19 on bars, No. 40 on beam and No. 12 on floor.
Junior Mya Hooten, continuing her dominant season in 2023, ranks No. 3 in the nation on floor ahead of Friday's meet. Senior Halle Remlinger comes in at No. 18 on floor in the rankings before the Gophers' outing at regionals. Maddie Quarles ties with Hooten at No. 11 in the vault rankings.
WCGA All-Americans
Junior Mya Hooten and redshirt Senior Maddie Quarles were named WCGA All-Americans on March 23, with Hooten being named to both the First Team on floor and Second Team on vault and Quarles being named to Second Team on vault.
Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all-around earned All America honors. Second team All-America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.
Gophers Take Home Big Ten Honors
Minnesota had four gymnasts named to All-Big Ten teams in 2023, with juniors Gianna Gerdes and Mya Hooten being named to First Team and seniors Halle Remlinger and Maddie Quarles being named to Second Team. Quarles was recently named a WCGA Second Team All-American on vault as well.
It's the first time Gerdes and Remlinger have been named to an All-Big Ten team, while Hooten has now been named to an All-Conference team three times and Quarles twice.
Perfect 10s
The Gophers have recorded four perfect 10s in 2023 - two coming from Hooten on floor, one from Remlinger on floor, and one from Quarles on vault.
B1G Weekly Awards
Minnesota has had a gymnast recognized by the Big Ten eight different times in 2023. Mya Hooten has earned weekly awards three times, including Gymnast of the Week and Event Specialist twice. Maddie Quarles has been named Event Specialist of the Week twice, the first weekly awards of her career. Gianna Gerdes was named Gymnast of the Week once, also the first of her career. Halle Remlinger was named Event Specialist of the Week after her first career perfect 10. Freshman Seria Johnson was named Freshman of the Week after her performance at the Wasatch Classic.
