Semifinal matchup set for March 11

MINNEAPOLIS - It's time for the postseason as the Minnesota men's hockey team enters the 2023 Big Ten Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed will face the fifth-seeded Spartans of Michigan State. Puck drop of the semifinal matchup is set for March 11 at 8 p.m. with live coverage on the Big Ten Network and tickets are on sale now.

The Golden Gophers earned the No. 1 seed for a second-straight year and received an opening round bye straight to the single-elimination semifinals. Michigan, the highest-seeded team advancing from the quarterfinals will host the second-highest advancing team, Ohio State, while Michigan State was the lowest-seeded advancing team and heads to 3M Arena at Mariucci. The highest-seeded team remaining after the semifinals will host the championship game on Saturday, March 18.

The Maroon and Gold won its sixth B1G regular season title and is the only team in the league to win more than one championship in the 10-year history of the league. Behind a 19-4-1 mark in conference play, the Gophers set a record for the largest margin of victory during the season as they held a 19-point lead over second-place Michigan.
