GAME ONE
FULLERTON, Calif. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers took a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 9-6 to the Seattle U Redhawks Sunday afternoon.
Junior Jacie Hambrick (4-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (10-8). The right-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up six runs, three earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.
Sophomore Taylor Krapf led the way offensively for the Gophers, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double, a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Kayla Chavez provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Senior Sydney Strelow also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Minnesota with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Maroon and Gold got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from Strelow, scoring Krapf from third base.
After the Redhawks rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Gophers came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. Minnesota scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Nani Valencia, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Gophers.
Minnesota's lead had evaporated by the time the seventh inning came around and turned into a 9-2 Seattle U advantage, when Minnesota cut that deficit to 9-6. The Gophers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run home run off the bat of Krapf. Minnesota was unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

Fifth year Autumn Pease (7-3) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota (11-8). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out 12.
Graduate Natalie DenHartog led the way offensively for the Gophers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a home run, a walk and three RBI. Freshman Addison Leschber put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Junior Maddy Ehlke also contributed, going 2-for-3 for Minnesota.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. DenHartog put Minnesota on the board with a two-out solo home run off Jenna .
After the Lions rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Gophers came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. Minnesota pushed across a run on Leschber's two-out RBI double, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Gophers.
