MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota has added Milton, Wis. native Leah Gonsiorowski to their incoming group of freshmen, the team announced Monday. Gonsiorowski joins eight other Gophers-to-be that will be on campus this fall.
Gonsiorowski currently attends Milton High School and is a two-time Nationals Qualifier, and recently won the 2023 Wisconsin State floor and bars championships while also adding runner-up performances on beam and in the all-around. She was the state champion on floor and was the runner-up on beam and in the all-around in 2022 as well.
The Lake City Twisters Gymnastics (Madison, Wis.) product collected accolades not just in gymnastics, but in the classroom. Gonsiorowski was a member of the National Honor Society and also the Spanish Honor Society, and also earned a 4.0 GPA. Gonsiorowski recently signed her acceptance of admission form and plans to study biomedical engineering at the University of Minnesota.
"I chose Minnesota because of the incredible culture of the team and coaching staff. The positive family atmosphere is truly like no other, and the Gopher community is beyond supportive," Gonsiorowski said. "The campus of Minnesota is such a welcoming environment, and the opportunities both academically and athletically are endless. Without a doubt, I know I will be able to grow as an athlete, student, and as an individual, while also being able to stay close to home."
