GAME ONE
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -Â Senior Autumn Pease was dominant on Sunday, fanning 11 Penn State hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers over the Nittany Lions 3-1.
In addition to her 11 strikeouts, Pease (14-5) threw seven innings, giving up one run on two hits and walking none for Minnesota (21-13, 2-3 Big Ten).
Sophomore Kayla Chavez led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple, a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Taylor Krapf put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Senior Sydney Strelow also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Minnesota with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from Krapf, scoring Chavez from third base.
The Nittany Lions failed to push any runs across before the Golden Gophers built on their lead in the fifth inning. Minnesota scored twice on Chavez's two-run homer, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Golden Gophers. Penn State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minnesota still held on for the 3-1 win.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -Â The Minnesota Golden Gophers were not able to score a run against Penn State pitcher Bailey Parshall on Sunday and were shut out 2-0 by the Nittany Lions.
Senior Bri Enter (1-3) got the ball to start for Minnesota (21-14, 2-4 Big Ten) and took the loss. Junior Jacie Hambrick was a bright spot for the Golden Gophers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.
At the plate, the Golden Gophers were led by sophomore Kayla Chavez, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double.

Minnesota did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Golden Gophers went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the sixth, when Chavez made it into scoring position with two outs.
