Warian and Galdos lead Gophers in Round Two at Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - Ā Sophomore Eduardo Galdos shot a personal-best 5five-under par (66) in his second round Saturday to lead Minnesota in the second round of at the Big Ten Championships in Galloway, N.J.Ā
After opening the tournament at 30-over par in round one, The Gophers bounced back in a big way from a slow first round with a combined team score of 2-under par to put themselves in a tie for 7th place overall after two rounds. No. 3 Illinois leads the tournament with an overall team score of 8-under par.Ā

Junior Ben Warian notched five birdies in his second round to continue his stellar play. Thanks to a 68 Saturday, he now sits in a tie for fifth place with a score of 1-under par.Ā
Galdos tallied six birdies to set a new personal-best 5-under par (66), and he currently finds himself in a tie for 20th with a score of 5-over par. After the first two rounds, he leads the team in scoring on the par four holes (+2) and is tied for the team lead in total birdies (6). He currently finds himself in a tie for 20th with a score of 5-over par.Ā
Senior Harrison Arnold is just one shot back of Galdos, as he sits in a tie for 23rd with a score of 6-over par. Arnold shot a 1-over 72 in the second round.
Graduate Lincoln Johnson (+18) sits in a tie for 59th, and fellow graduate Jacob Pedersen (+20) is two shots behind Johnson and is currently in a tie for 62nd. Both golfers shot rounds of 76 Saturday.
