Final Round of B1G Championships Canceled, Warian Finishes Tied For Fifth

MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Ben Warian completed a strong week, finishing in a tie for fifth place overall, as he led Minnesota to a seventh- place finish at the Big Ten Championships Sunday in Galloway N.J.
With the third round of the Big Ten Championships being canceled Sunday due to inclement weather, the Gophers finished the tournament with a combined team score of 28-over par, placing them in a tie for seventh place in the tournament.
No. 3 Illinois won the tournament for the eighth straight year, posting with an overall team score of 8-under par, followed by Northwestern in second place at 9-overwith a team score of 9-over par.
The seventh-place finish is Minnesota's best showing since tying for third in 2015, while Warian's fifth-place result was the top Gopher performance since Angus Flanagan shared medalist honors in 2019.

Warian's stellar play this week earned him a spot on the Big Ten All-Championship team. He's the first Gopher to earn such honors since Flanagan did so in 2019. Leading the team in par-three (3.00) -four (4.11) and -five scoring (4.63), as well as birdies (6) and pars collected (25), Warian finished with a 1-under 141. He was one of eight golfers in the entire field to finish below par this week.notched his second top-two finish of the spring season this week.
Sophomore Eduardo Galdos matched Warian in scoring on par-four (+2) holes throughout the tournament. Galdos finished tied for 38th, with a score of five-over par (81-66–147). Senior Harrsion Arnold (76-72–148) finished one shot behind Galdos, placing him in a tie for 45th.
Graduate Lincoln Johnson ended the tournament with a score of 18-over par, placing tied for 57th. Fellow graduate Jacob Pedersen (+20) finished two shots behind of Johnson, putting Pedersen in a tie for 62nd.
