Warian Set for NCAA Regional Monday

MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Ben Warian is set to represent the University of Minnesota Men's golf team in postseason play in the NCAA Regional tournament. Warian will compete in the Bath Regional at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin on Monday, May 15 and run through Wednesday, May 17.
Angus Flanagan was the last Gopher to compete in the NCAA tournament, doing so in 2021.
Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete in three of the six regionals, while 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams will compete in the other three regional tournaments. The top five teams and top individual not on an advancing team will compete in the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. from May 26-31.
This season, Warian led the Gophers in overall scoring average, average score to par, as well as top-10 and top-five finishes. He also finished the regular season within the top-150 individuals in the nation.
Angus Flanagan was the last Gopher to compete in the NCAA Regionals, doing so in 2021. Warian is looking to become the first Minnesota men's golfer to reach the Championships since the team advanced in 2007.

The Competition:
Seeded-second, Warian will compete against nine other individuals and 13 teams for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships. Included in the field are Big Ten foes Illinois, host-Michigan State and Wisconsin, as well as SEC champion Florida and perennial power Texas.
The Course:
The Bath Regional will be played at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich. The course scores as a par-72 and measures over 7,300 yards.
