Two University of Minnesota student-athletes from the gymnastics program are traveling abroad this month, and will spend time in southern Europe.

Rising seniors Emily Koch and Mya Hooten have arrived in Greece for their study abroad program, and will spend roughly two weeks in the country.

Koch and Hooten will engage in a Greek Agriculture & Gastronomy class, during which they will gain firsthand experience with Greek food, agricultural traditions, and its impacts on Greek life and culture.

They will spend time in the cities of Thessaloniki, Athens, Meteora, and coastal Halkidiki. The two will participate in industry visits, city tours, cooking classes, Greek dance lessons, and visits to local cultural and archaeological sites.

The two rising seniors were named Academic All-Big Ten in 2023 in addition to their accolades on the gymnastics floor. Hooten earned WCGA All-American First Team honors on floor and Second Team honors on vault this season, and shared the Big Ten title on both floor and vault.
