Krapf Homers Twice in Minnesota's 13-10 Victory Over Michigan

With the win, Minnesota secures its first series over the Wolverines since 2012
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Sophomore Taylor Krapf put together an outstanding performance at the plate Saturday, hitting two homers to help lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers past the Michigan Wolverines 13-10.
Freshman Sydney Schwartz (2-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota (35-16, 16-6). The right-hander went 3.2 shutout innings, giving up one hit, no walks and striking out one.
Krapf went 2-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with six RBIs. Freshman Jess Oakland added to Krapf's awesome power-hitting performance by going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI. Senior Natalie DenHartog also chipped in for the Golden Gophers, going 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Minnesota's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Krapf.
The Wolverines failed to push any runs across before the Golden Gophers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Minnesota offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Krapf and a two-run single from Oakland, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 9-1.
Minnesota's lead had evaporated by the time the fourth inning came around and turned into a 10-9 Michigan advantage, when the Golden Gophers re-gained control at 12-10. The Golden Gophers picked up three runs, including one driven in on a home run by Oakland.
Minnesota held the Wolverines scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The Golden Gophers notched a run on DenHartog's one-out solo dinger off sophomore Lauren Derkowski, bringing the score to 13-10 in favor of Minnesota. The score remained 13-10 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Gophers held on for the win.
