Men's Golf Unveils 2023-24 Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota Men's Golf team has released its 2023-24 schedule, head coach Justin Smith announced this week. 
 
The Golden Gophers begin their first event on Sept. 10 when they host the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Maple Plain, Minn. The course is consistently rated among the state's top golf courses, while also being nationally recognized as one of the top modern courses in the country.

After hosting the Gopher Invitational, the Maroon and Gold travel to Northfield, Ill., Sept. 25-26 to compete in the Windon Memorial, one of two newly added tournaments to this year's schedule. 

As the calendar turns to October, Minnesota heads south to Arkansas to compete in play in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational for the first time in program history. The three-day event takes place Oct. 2-4.

One week later, the Gophers will play in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational at The Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif., on Oct. 9-10. The course – designed in 1927 – utilizes meandering creeks, subtle elevation changes and broad vistas.

The fall season concludes with the Gophers traveling to Vero Beach, Fla., for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational Oct. 15-16. Quail Valley Golf and River Club was designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio and is consistently rated among the top courses in Florida. 

The 2024 spring season kicks off in Puerto Rico at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 11-13 at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, P.R.. The Gophers do not resume tournament play until March 4-5 at the Colleton River Collegiate in Blufton, S.C..

The Maroon and Gold then return to St. Simons Island, Ga., to compete in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island tournament for the second straight year, March 10-11. The spring season closes out with the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C., March 24-25, followed by the Tiger Collegiate in Columbia, Mo., April 8-9,; and the Redhawk Invitational in Sylvania, Ohio, April 15-16. 


The Big Ten Championships will take place April 26-28 in Upper Arlington, Ohio, at Scioto Country Club. 

NCAA Regionals will take place at to-be-determined sites, May 13-15, while the NCAA Championships are scheduled to take place May 24-29 at Omni LaCosta Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

The Gophers return seven golfers from last year's team, in addition to welcoming transfers Gavin Hagstrom and Brock Winter, as well as incoming freshman Kyler Schwamb
