ATHENS - Graduate goalkeeper Megan Plaschko racked up a season high eight saves in a scoreless draw against No. 22 Georgia at Turner Soccer Complex on Thursday night.
Minnesota (3-1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) picked up the lone point against the top-ranked Bulldogs (1-1-1, 0-0 SEC).
How it Happened
Minnesota registered four shots in the scoreless tie, one of them on goal. The Golden Gophers faced 20 Georgia shots, eight of them on goal. Plaschko led Minnesota with eight saves, picking up her third shutout of the season.
Game Notes
- Sophia Boman led the Gopher offense with two shots
- Kate Childers and Abi Frandsen registered one shot each
- Plaschko piled up eight saves for the Golden Gophers out of 20 total Bulldog shots
- Plaschko and the backline pick up their third shutout of the season
"Something we've been striving to do is finish games, even though we wanted to win I was proud of the defensive effort," said head coach Erin Chastain. "Plaschko was unbelievable today and hasn't been tested much yet this season, so it's fun to remember we have a really good goalkeeper behind our team. We had some moments where we were brave enough to keep it and do some nice things."
