Gophers Pick Up Shutout Victory Over Tommies

Sophia Boman recorded her first career hat-trick
MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gophers got a huge performance from Sophia Boman, who recorded a hat trick in a 5-0 shutout win over St. Thomas on Sunday night at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
Minnesota (4-1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) improves its record and picks up three points over the Tommies (2-2-1, 0-0 Summit League).
How it Happened
Minnesota broke the 0-0 score when St. Thomas scored an own goal in the 16th minute.
The Gophers tacked on another score on a goal from Boman -- her fifth goal of the season -- in the 71st minute, assisted by Kate Childers and Khyah Harper.
Minnesota went up 3-0 on Boman's 74th-minute goal, her fifth of the season. Sophia Romine assisted the goal.
The Gophers made it a 4-0 lead with a 75th-minute goal from Boman, her fifth goal of the season. Harper and Taylor Heimerl assisted the goal.
Minnesota took a 5-0 advantage on Romine's second goal of the season in the 79th minute, assisted by Christa Van Loon. Neither team scored again and the game ended 5-0.

"Really proud of the effort tonight from our group, we knew it would be a test for us," said head coach Erin Chastain. "We put in a hard 90 away at Georgia, proud that we stuck with it and believed we would get the second goal. When that happened, we had some great goals and good performances from our attacking players."
