Pedersen and Galdos lead Gophers at Gopher Invitational
MINNEAPOLIS - Graduate senior Jacob Pedersen and junior Eduardo Galdos led the University of Minnesota Men's golf team through the first two rounds of the Gopher Invitational Sunday at Windsong Farm Golf Club with both recording 36-hole scores of 140 (-2).Â
The host-Gophers sit in a tie for fourth place with Big Ten foe Rutgers (286-281–567) with a team score of 1-under par. The Maroon and Gold finished its first round at three-over-par (287) but rebounded with a team score of 4-under-par (280) in round two.Â
UNC-Wilmington (284-279–563) and Big Ten rival Northwestern (285-278–563) lead the tournament after 36 holes at five-under par. Kansas' Will King is the individual leader at 8-under par.
Notable:
Galdos (72-68) and Pedersen (70-70) sit in a tie for ninth place after their first 36 holes.Â
Playing as an individual, sophomore Jack Wetzel tallied seven birdies across his first two rounds. He lies in a tie for 14th place, just one shot back of Galdos and Pedersen after carding rounds of 71 and 70.Â
Senior Ben Warian finds himself in a tie for 25th place after his first two rounds. Warian posted a two-over 73 in round one, and a 1-under 70 in round two to put him at a score of 1-over par.Â
Junior Bennett Swavely (72-72) is in a tie for 35th, one shot behind Warian.Â
Playing as individuals, sophomores Mason Roloff (76-71) and Cormac Sharpe (77-73) are tied for 49th and 58th, respectively. Competing for the team, graduate senior Brock Winter (76-75) stands in a tie for 63rd, one shot back of Sharpe.Â
Also playing as an individual, redshirt junior Gavin Hagstrom (77-75) is one of three tied for 67th. Rounding out the Gopher roster, freshman Kyler Schwamb made his collegiate debut and is in a tie for 70th, one shot behind Hagstrom.Â
