Minnesota Finishes Round One of ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Tenth

Freshman Sara Tomaszewski shot a team best 71 (-1)
LAKE ELMO, MN - The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished round one of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M today. The team sits in tenth after 18 holes and was led by freshman Sara Tomaszewski who penciled in a one-under-par 71. Minnesota's score of 290 (+2) is the lowest round in the team's history of competing at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
South Carolina leads the tournament after day one with a team score of 273 (-15).

"I'm so proud of the way the team handled themselves today and I know we can keep trending this week. It's a great day for Gopher golf."
Notable:
Sara Tomaszewski shot her first under-par round as a gopher, finishing the day with two birdies and 13 pars. After the first 18, the freshman's 71 has her in a tie for 19th.
Hailey Loh kept a steady pace in round one shooting an even 72. Loh finished the back nine under par and is tied for 30th heading into round two.
Megan Furtney started the round off well with eight pars and one birdie on the front. She leaves round one with a score of 73 (+1) and tied for 38th.
Graduate Grace Curran improved by two strokes between nines, carding an even 36 on the back. Curran is tied for 43rd with a score of 74 (+2).
Isabella McCauley penciled in 14 pars and one birdie during her first-round score of 76 (+4). She is in a tie for 53rd after round one of three.
