Minnesota Divers Ready to Return to Action at the Bruin Diving Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Golden Gophers diving team is back in action this weekend as they travel to the Bruin Diving Invitational at Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
The invite begins on Friday with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter dives. On Saturday, the women will compete in the 3-meter while the men will be on the platform. To conclude the invite on Sunday, the women will dive from the platform and the men on the 1-meter board.
Events are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. CT each day. Live results can be found on DiveMeets.com.
Sophomore Vivi Del Angel has led the way for the women's squad so far this year, claiming the top score to date in each of the three diving events. Named Big Ten Diver of the Week on Dec. 6, Del Angel has set new personal records in both the 1-meter (324.95) and 3-meter (367.85).
In addition to Del Angel, seniors Av Osero (298.95) and Megan Phillip (301.43), sophomore Addie Albrecht (288.45), and freshman Elna Widerstrom (315.23) have all hit the qualifying mark in the 1-meter.
Junior Kate LaMonica (293.05) joined the group of Del Angel (367.85), Osero (309.20), Phillip (310.13), Albrecht (302.80) and Widerstrom (340.95) who hit the qualifying mark in the 3-meter. Del Angel and LaMonica both also hit the qualifying mark in the platform with Del Angel scoring a 331.90 and LaMonica scoring 265.00.
On the men's side, freshman YuTong Wang and sophomore Drew Bennett have hit the qualifying mark for each dive they have completed this season. Additionally, neither of the two has finished a competition lower than second place.
Wang holds the top scores in both the 1-meter (395.60) and 3-meter (433.30), while Bennett has the top score in platform (407.60).
