Hooten Named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota senior Mya Hooten was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week on Tuesday, the Big Ten announced.
Hooten took home weekly honors after posting her seventh career perfect 10 on floor in a Minnesota's meet win over Eastern Michigan. She also tallied a 9.775 on vault and a 9.875 on uneven bars.
A three-time All-American in floor, Hooten helped the team move to 4-0 with Saturday's 196.300-194.900 win over EMU. The Gophers enter this week as the No. 15 team in the nation, according to Road to Nationals.
Hooten earned two perfect 10's last year and three as a sophomore in 2022. It was her first 10 since Feb. 4, 2023 against Illinois. Hooten takes home her seventh ever Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week award.
The Gophers open Big Ten competition on Monday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. on BTN at the Pav against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
