MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher wrestling fans can get their first look at the 2024-25 squad on Friday, Oct. 25, when Minnesota hosts its annual open practice.
This year's version takes place at the Gopher Wrestling Training Facility at the Bierman Field Athletic Building (516 15th Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455). Doors open at 6 p.m. with practice scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
A very limited number of metered parking spots are available in front of Bierman on a first-come, first-serve basis. The next best parking option likely would be the 4th Street Ramp.
Minnesota returns seven starters, including 2024 All-Americans Isaiah Salazar and Vance VomBaur, for the 2024-25 season. Other returning national qualifiers include fifth-year senior Andrew Sparks, redshirt juniors Blaine Brenner, Drew Roberts and Bennett Tabor, and sophomore Tyler Wells,
In addition, the team welcomes in three transfers in Tommy Askey (release), Cooper Flynn (release) and Clayton Whiting (release), plus a freshman class that brings in an additional eight newcomers. Minnesota also brings back three additional wrestlers that started at least one dual a year ago.
