Maroon and Gold to Play Home-and-Home Series Against Minnesota State

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 4 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team (4-3-1, 0-3-1 WCHA) is set to match up against the Minnesota State Mavericks at Ridder Arena on Friday, Oct. 25 at 5:00 p.m. CT and at Mayo Clinic HSEC in Mankato, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+.
HOMECOMING PARADE / TRAFFIC ADVISORY
The University of Minnesota will host their annual Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 25. Due to the parade route, University Avenue will be closed to all traffic from approximately 6-8 p.m. Individuals attending the game are encouraged to arrive early to avoid the road closure.
Ongoing construction will impact traffic flow on 4th Street between Oak Street and I-35W. All fans are encouraged to utilize other roads to avoid delays. Fans are encouraged to purchase parking passes in advance, available by clicking HERE. All fans arriving without a parking pass should park in lots on the east side of Huntington Bank Stadium - Gold Lot, Victory Lot, Ski-U-Mah Lot, etc.
Last Time Out
The Gophers are coming off last weekend's home series against the No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers. Minnesota went 0-2-0 on the weekend, falling to Wisconsin 5-0 on Friday and 4-3 on Saturday. Junior defender Sydney Morrow scored two goals in Saturday's game, including one on a power play. Morrow, a transfer from Colgate, has tallied three goals in eight games as a Gopher.
Scouting the Mavericks
Head coach Shari Dickerman and the Minnesota State Mavericks hold a 2-2-0 (0-2-0 WCHA) record this season. Last weekend, the Mavericks dropped two games against St. Thomas in their first WCHA conference series of 2024-25. Minnesota State fell 4-3 to the Tommies on Friday, and then lost 3-2 on Saturday. The Gophers hold a 108-5-3 all-time record against the Mavericks and have gone 9-1 in their last ten matchups.

The Maroon and Gold had various players make an impact through the first six games of the season. Redshirt-senior Abbey Murphy leads the team with 9 points (6g-3a). She notched at least one point in the Gophers' first six games. Following Murphy is junior forward Josefin Bouveng and fifth-year forward Natalie Mlynkova, who have each tallied 6 points (2g-4a and 1g-5a, respectively). Senior goaltender Skylar Vetter has gone 3-2-0 to start the season with a .865 save percentage. Freshman goaltender Hannah Clark holds a record 1-1-1 with a .907 save percentage through her first three collegiate starts.
Attacking the Net
The No. 4 Golden Gophers have outshot opponents 256-164 through their first eight games of the season, with Minnesota averaging 32.0 SOG per game. Eleven different Maroon and Gold student-athletes have notched at least one goal on the season so far.
Milestones on the Horizon
The University of Minnesota women's hockey program sits at an all-time WCHA conference record of 499-110-50 and will look to become the first team in WCHA history to break beyond 500 conference wins. The program also has an all-time overall record of 781-179-64 and is on pace to reach the 800-win mark. Redshirt-senior Abbey Murphy has recorded 76 career goals and will be in pursuit of the century mark this season after leading the nation in scores (33) in 2023-24. Senior forwards Peyton Hemp and Ella Huber will seek to reach triple digits in career points this season, having tallied 94 and 95 career points, respectively, so far. Senior goaltender Skylar Vetter has 48 career wins, only needing five more to tie Sydney Peters (53) for fifth-most in program history. Vetter has also recorded 12 career shutouts, needing one more to tie Kim Hanlon (13) for sixth-most in program history.
Quest for Eighth National Title
Minnesota has won seven national championships (2000, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016) and looks for a historic eighth title national crown in 2024-25.
